Vision
All children with disabilities and special needs in Manitoba and the surrounding areas will have access to the resources necessary to enable them to achieve their maximum potential.
The Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation is the fund raising arm for the Rehabilitation Centre for Children (RCC). Over 22,000 visits are made to RCC services each year.
Fund Allocation Guideline
The Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation funds are allocated, where there is insufficient funding from other sources, in the following areas:
- Individual children’s equipment. Examples include: lightweight wheelchairs, voice simulators, specialized bikes, computer access technology.
- Equipment and resources to aid in RCC’s service delivery. Examples include: therapy equipment, adapted toys, artificial limb manufacturing equipment.
- Programs and Services. Examples include the LIFE Program (Leisure in Fun Environments), Bike Clinic
- Skill development. Supports the RCC rehab professionals in collaborating on national and international levels.
- Enabling research for pediatric rehabilitation.
The Rehabilitation Centre for Children (RCC) provides children with disabilities with services that enable them to live with independence and ability in their own homes, schools and communities. Area of service includes Manitoba, Nunavut, parts of Saskatchewan and North West Ontario.
Children coming to the Centre may have disabilities and conditions such as:
- amputations
- autism spectrum disorder
- cerebral palsy
- developmental delay
- Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
- feeding disorders
- inability to speak
- muscular dystrophy
- neurological disorders
- orthopedic (bone) disorders
- spina bifida
- scoliosis
- spasticity
- ...and more.
